After the initial downpour at the swannery, the weather brightened allowing the children to ride on the go-karts, talk to the man and admired the walking sticks he makes, sit in nests and make nests using salt dough and other materials. At Pre-school the children transformed the empty sand pit into a shop selling old […]
It was all about trying to keep cool this week. Fortunately children automatically seek shade, and when there wasn’t any they helped to create it. From picking berries to feed the birds, making dens, painting the wall, and playing with water. Bringing the ride-on toys inside the children re-enacted traffic congestion in Abbotsbury.
As the children arrived at Abbotsbury Explorers they were encouraged to paint a colour wheel. Whilst this dried they used a smaller colour wheel and colour sheet to mark off the colours they could find, and went off in their groups to explore Abbotsbury gardens. Filling bags with fallen petals and using coloured paper clips

Indoor soft play, tasting stewed rhubarb, dinosaurs and puzzles were just some of
Children enjoyed using different tools to paint roses on our outside painting wall to celebrate St George’s day (Church of England has changed the date this year because no saint’s day can take place in the week before or after Easter). There was lots of outside play this week including: stirring ‘ice cream’, making models
Easter time is nearly upon us again, so lots of opportunities for Easter related ideas. Hiding Easter eggs for an egg hunt, matching correctly coloured egg halves, painting and decorating eggs and bunnies, and using pom pom and tweezers were just a few activities. This week was also the first visit out for Abbotsbury Explorers.
